When is the best time to dive ?

Diving in the Red Sea is possible year round. However, if you hope to see some of the larger pelagic life, June, July and August are the times when you can find larger concentrations of barracuda, tuna and a variety of shark species.

Can I hire equipment ?

Yes, you can full equipment sets, dive computers, UW-torches and more are available. Please advise when making a reservation if you wish to hire equipment, and give us your sizes.

Can I take diving courses on a liveaboard ?

It is possible to take courses on a liveaboard but you will need to book this in advance. We can suggest a Nitrox or Advanced course.

Is Nitrox available on board ?

Yes, Nitrox is available against an extra charge.

What type of wetsuit do I need ?

A 5mm wetsuit is usually recommended for diving the Red Sea. In winter, you will need a full wet suit but and we recommend a hood (can be rented on board), in the summer months a shorty and/or 3mm will suffice.

Are night dives possible ?

Yes, night dives are possible at many dive sites, though not all. From SOUTH MOON we normally offer 5 night dives during the week (every day except the last day/Friday)

What is the minimum number of passengers required for the liveaboard to sail ?

The minimum number of passengers required for a sailing is 6 persons, however, we often confirm a sailing already with a lower number.

How do I get to Sharm el Sheikh?

There are international flights arriving into Sharm every day. If you require any further assistance or advice regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact our agent in your country.

How do I get from the airport to the boat ?

Sea Queens does provide airport transfers for the arrival to and departure from the boat. Should you stay in a hotel in Sharm before the safari, we also arrange a transfer from there to our boat. Please ensure that you advise us of your flight numbers and times of arrival / departure (or your hotel name & address) well ahead in time.

What currency will I need for Egypt ?

The currency in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound, EGP (locally named LE). It is made up of 100 piasters. On board we accept Egyptian Pounds, Euros and US Dollars.

Are there medical facilities on the boat ?

All our boats have first-aid boxes and oxygen. In the event of a medical emergency, the Search and Rescue (SAR) teams based on land can be contacted 24 hours a day and clients can be taken to the Hyperbaric Chambers in Sharm, Hurghada, Safaga or Dahab, whatever is the closest. Diving and/or accident insurance are highly recommended! You cannot get a diving nor a health or accident insurance on board, it need to be done in advance.

What is recommended for tipping / gratuities ?

On liveaboards, it is usually customary to leave a one-time tip for the crew and dive guides at the end of the trip, around 60- 80 EUR per diver per week are recommended and usual in the area.
