Until quite recently, visitors to Egypt only came for the antiquities relating to Egypt’s majestic past. However, in the 1960s and 1970s a few intrepid visitors started to discover the scuba-diving opportunities offered by the Egyptian Red Sea. Egypt is home to the most northerly coral reefs in the world and has some of the best dive sites on the planet! |

Today, the scuba diving industry and the coastal resorts of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada are well established to cater for thousands of visitor arrivals each week. Other resorts, too, have subsequently developed and continue to be up-and coming tourist destinations e.g. Taba in the Sinai and Marsa Alam and El Gouna on the mainland. |
